Air-Weigh Develops Arm Scale for Front-End Loader Refuse Vehicles

03/07/12

Unit offers highly accurate, real-time bin weight measurements in just seconds saving time, money and improving efficiency.

Air-Weigh, the global provider of on-board electronic scales, announced today the development of a front-end loader refuse vehicle arm scale. Air-Weigh teamed with McNeilus companies to develop the system, known as the BinMaxx scale.

The BinMaxx scale provides accurate front loader bin weight measurements at a very cost-effective price. Users can add a scale onto any front-end loader, without having to purchase and install custom forks. The scale can be installed and operational in as few as four hours.

BinMaxx can provide both static and dynamic measurements of bin net weight. For weigh-in-motion, the operator lifts and empties the bin in a smooth and consistent manner. An accurate dynamic weight is displayed by the time the operator replaces the bin. For a more accurate static weight, the bin is lifted off the ground and the operator pauses for a moment.

The easy-to-use, menu-based display shows each bin weight along with lift number and a cumulative total weight. An optional printer allows the operator to document every lift –including time, date, truck ID, lift number, and gross, net and tare weight. The new scale will be an available option from McNeilus for those purchasing new front end loader units, starting in the third quarter. Retrofit kits will also be available from Air-Weigh.

“McNeilus is proud to have partnered with Air-Weigh to develop the BinMaxx front loader dynamic weighing arm scale. We believe that this partnership will bring real value to customer hauling operations at a price that is very affordable - no longer should price be a barrier to understanding what your individual bin or overall truck weight is at any time. The system is easy to use and takes up almost no space inside the cab which makes for a very clean installation. Air-Weigh has developed a full featured product with quality, reliability, accuracy and affordability in mind - no doubt this should be a home run in any size fleet,” said Greg McCarty, Sr. Program & Product Manager of McNeilus.

“Air-Weigh is excited to offer an integrated front end loader scale that provides real-time binweight,” said Martin Ambros, president and CEO of Air-Weigh. “Like all of our advanced on-board scales, weight information from the new BinMaxx scale may be displayed and printed in the cab or transmitted to an on-board computer. We’re pleased to be able to provide a very cost-effective solution that contributes to efficient and productive refuse operations.”
